Rough Day

piper and some friends

pardon the (eternally) partially painted walls in the background

Today Piper had minor eye surgery. She had to have a blocked tear duct probed. The poor girl was awake and away from us for the procedure. The whole thing only took about 3 minutes, but it was a very long three minutes for both her and us. Sean and I had to wait for her down the hall, but we could still hear her crying. By the time the doctor brought her out to us she had already stopped crying. The doctor said Piper did well, unfortunately, the procedure may not have worked. The doc was unable to get the probe through one of her tear ducts. We knew this was a possibility and sadly this may mean that she will need to have a slightly more invasive surgery in the near future. We'll know in about a week if the procedure was successful. In the meantime, she has bloody goop and tears around her eye.

Since she had such a rough morning we decided a present might cheer her up. We went out and bought her a "Johnny Jump-Up" (actually it's a Graco Jumpster). She seems to enjoy it.

I'm so sorry about the procedure that Piper had to go through. Let's just pray that the surgery worked. Bless her little heart!
